ECD Event Coordinators

Pegah Kahali, M.D.

Pegah is a postdoctoral associate at Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT. She studies the electrophysiological correlates of the states of    unconsciousness under general anesthesia. Working everyday as a part of a multidisciplinary team, Pegah appreciates the power that lies within the diversity of  thought. In pursuit of her career goals, she shares the common concerns and dilemmas with many other young fellows. However, she believes that it is in the  dialogue with her peers that new horizons come to sight. Pegah envisages the Early Career Dialogues to bring about a candid conversations between scientists  at different career stages.

Sourish Chakravarty, Ph.D.

Sourish is a postdoctoral fellow at Picower Institute for Learning and Memory at MIT. After his Ph.D. experience in Applied Mechanics, he has moved into Neuroengineering for postdoctoral training. As a postdoc at MIT, he is collaborating with neuroscientists and clinicians to develop engineering solutions for improved anesthesia delivery. From personal experience gained through a nonlinear career trajectory, Sourish relates to the themes discussed here. He believes such informational sessions will help early career scientists find clarity in their own journeys. He hopes that such meetings will create a butterfly effect yielding systemic and sustainable solutions to the challenges faced by early career scientists.

ECD Volunteers

John Abel, Ph.D.

John is Postdoctoral Research Fellow at MGH and Research Affiliate at MIT. He received the B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University (2013), the M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara (2015), and the Ph.D. degree in Systems Biology from Harvard University (2018). His research interests are in the application of dynamical systems and control theory to neuroscience, systems biology of circadian rhythms, and physiological closed-loop control.
